What year did you graduate massage school?
2001

What massage school did you attend?
Virginia School of Technology in Virginia Beach, VA

What is your work experience? How many years in what settings?
18 years of experience in a clinical setting, 5 years with Integrity Chiropractic

What are your specialties? Favorite conditions to treat? Do you have special training or certifications?
Medical Massage is my specialty, it is precise and specific to each patient’s needs. Medical massage can be defined as therapeutic, corrective, and restorative. During my 18 years, I am continually looking for opportunities to further my education in massage therapy. I have taken modalities over the years such as Thai yoga, Swedish, myofascial release, pregnancy, and chair massage. I have also been a Reiki master for the last 15 years. My favorite conditions to treat would be migraines and anxiety.

What is your favorite thing about doing massage in a clinical setting?
I truly enjoy helping others and it’s so rewarding to aid each patient in their own healing process. The body is an amazing machine, but sometimes it just needs help in facilitating the healing process and that’s where massage therapy is so beneficial.

Why is the reason you got into massage therapy?
My grandmother struggled with bursitis in her shoulder and as a young girl I would massage her neck, back, and shoulder. I was able to see firsthand the relief that it gave to her and that experience gave me my passion to help others. Later in my career, my mother battled cancer and it reinforced why I got into massage therapy. The relief that my mother received from massage was helpful in her battle and I’m so blessed that I was able to do that for her.

Where are you from? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised here in Southern WV and I continue to live here.

Who do you live with? People and or pets?
I live with my husband Phil and all of our animals.

What are your favorite hobbies or past times?
I am an escape room enthusiast. My team and I have played approximately 100 escape rooms in many states. I also love anything outdoors, traveling, and experiencing new things.

Favorite:
My favorite thing is educating my clients and students as we are on the journey of healing.

Reason:
I had a long career as an administrative assistant/office manager at various offices and schools in the different places where my husband's career had taken us, and I came to a point where a disabling injury of an "unknown cause" left me without a job and very confused. As I was searching for answers, I was lead to the healing of chiropractic and massage. Encouraged by several massage therapists and the chiropractor, I also saw God's hand leading me on the path to massage school that was clearly laid before me, and I never looked back. I have been an avid "massage junkie" ever since, both in receiving massages and in giving.

From:
Born and lived in Texas, then Oklahoma, Illinois, Utah, back to TX where my kids were born, WV, Colorado, back to WV. I currently live in a cabin in the forest in Shady Spring with my husband of many years, the very large dog who adopted us, two miniature goats, and lots of wildlife.

Favorites:
The water and the mountains fuel me. I love kayaking, soaking in the hot springs (or hot tub when I am too far from the hot springs), time with my grandchildren, mountain biking on easy trails, and researching/prepping for massage education and for Bible study. My obsession is decorating and arranging space for a practical solution to organization. My passion is helping dysfunction, whether it's the disorganization of a home or a person who is living in a state of "dis-ease", to come to a place of wholeness.
